Prof. Dr. Peter Hellwig
Peter Hellwig studied linguistics and computer science in Kiel, Leuven/Belgium, Munich and Erlangen.
He became professor of Computational Linguistics in Heidelberg in 1980.
Between 1986 and 1988 he was professor at the University of Erlangen- Nuernberg.
From 1988 to 2005 he held the chair for Computational Linguistics in Heidelberg.
He was a visiting professor at the University of Surrey, UK, and the University
of Hawaii in Manoa, U.S.A. The main areas of his research are syntax, logical
semantics and text linguistics both from the linguistic and computational
viewpoint. He has been engaged in the development of new curricula and courses in computational linguistics.
